New Delhi, Sep 26 (KNO): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said ‘Operation Sindoor’ demonstrated India's resolve to go to any extent to protect its citizens and led to the elimination of terrorists and their handlers based in Pakistan.
Addressing a blood donation camp at the Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment, Singh, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the operation showcased the "unmatched valour" of the country's armed forces and sent a global message about India's determination to safeguard its people.
"Operation Sindoor demonstrated the unmatched valour of our defence forces who sent a global message that India will go to any extent to ensure the safety of its citizens," Singh said.
He said the operation demonstrated India's resolve to respond to terrorism and those behind attacks on the country.
Singh said the armed forces had eliminated terrorists and their handlers based in Pakistan, adding that those who attempted to target India had faced consequences.
Drawing a comparison between ‘Operation Sindoor’ and the blood donation campaign, Singh said while the military operation represented courage, the donation drive represented compassion and service.
He said the blood collected during the camp would help maintain reserves for soldiers and their families requiring medical treatment.
For the Armed Forces Medical Services, maintaining adequate blood reserves is particularly important as military hospitals cater not only to routine healthcare requirements but also to operational emergencies, trauma cases and other contingencies.
Singh also called upon young people to make voluntary blood donation a regular practice, saying blood remained a resource that could not be artificially manufactured despite advances in medical science.
He said every donor and recipient contributed to the larger cause of serving society and urged people to develop a culture of voluntary blood donation.
Nearly 1,000 sportspersons from Maharashtra were among those participating in the initiative, according to the Defence Ministry.
Singh also linked physical fitness with social service, saying healthy and fit citizens were better placed to contribute to society and participate in activities such as blood donation.
The Minister said the country should aspire to become not only a developed economy by 2047 but also a compassionate society where people are healthy and safe and essential resources such as blood are available during emergencies.
The event was attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister of State for Ayush Pratap Rao Jadhav, Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Ravindra Samant, MP Srikant Shinde, Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth and senior military and civil officials.
Pertinently, the ‘Operation Sindoor’ was launched by India in response to the April 2026 terror attack in Pahalgam, which left 26 civilians dead, and marked a major escalation in India's military response against terrorism—(KNO)
